The developed city was located in Benesagar, about 120 km from the eastern Singhbhum district headquarters of Jharkhand from the fifth century to the seventeenth century. This is known from the excavation being done by the Department of Archeology. The archaeological department has found many relics from the fifth to the seventeenth century here. Recently this area has also been surveyed by the department

The survey has revealed that at the place where the excavation is being done, there is a pond of 348 meters long and 300 meters wide. Excavations being carried out by the Archaeological Department in the east and southeast direction about 100 meters away from the pond have found two temple premises, some ruins and many stone sculptures, which are quite ancient and rare. Among these, statues of Surya, Bhairava, Lakulis, Agni, Kubera etc. are prominent.

A stone seal was also found in the excavation

A stone seal and seal have also been found during excavation. Priyangu Dhayam Chaturvidhi is inscribed on this stamp. The script of the article is Brahmani. It is being said that in ancient times a person named Priyangu was knowledgeable of the four Vedas. His language was also Sanskrit. On the basis of this, the Archaeological Department has fixed the date of the fifth century AD. History here The Archaeological Department conducts excavations for three months every year to drill. In order to protect the ruins, 35 laborers engaged in digging have been instructed to lift only 5 KG soil during the day.

Sign of king’s empire

Being adjacent to Odisha indicates the rule of a king in Benesagar. Excavation work is currently underway. To find out the history here, it has to be understood by connecting it with the history of Odisha. The discovery of the pond in the remains found so far from the excavation indicates that there must have been an advanced civilization there. The idols of Shiva, Surya Bhairav, Agni, Kubera and Hanuman which are a symbol of Hindu culture, it seems that the king here will be a Hindu.
